Beware of scams and other fraudulent activities. Scams from just talking on your phone, business services, in real life, credit cards, checks, and other scams that can acquire private information that can get hold of your money.

First step, know how to protect your self

Protecting your self from theft and other criminal activities that might occur with your life can be just basic things you do in life. As simple as they sound, I will list basic information that will lower your risks of having theft problems and other activities that might occur.

  1. Don’t release personal information to a stranger. Only give personal information to people you can trust for ever.
  2. Rip, shred, tare, burn, what ever to your billing information from daily bills such as the electricity company and the phone company bills. There are many garbage diggers on the loose looking for free information lying around.
  3. Try not releasing your information over the web, unless you know its a safe company website such as Yahoo.
  4. Don’t get involved in scandals or hang around with friends who might snatch your credit card and such.
  5. Keep your credit cards in your pockets at all times and not in your backpack, so you are aware of where your credit card is.
  6. Don’t leave important information lying around the house like on your television.
  7. Make sure your computer is free of viruses and key loggers. (Also spy wares and such)
  8. Do research on the company that you are purchasing from.
  9. Don’t be clumsy with your credit cards.
  10. Question the company that you are purchasing from.
  11. Don’t trust a person from how he sounds, he might be sincere at first, however there are many con artists who practice being friendly and trustworthy as a profession and the next thing you know, you have a $5000 bill that you never spent.
  12. If you are selling your products, most sites like Craigslist contain a population of scammers who will give you a fake cashiers check. Check if the money is valid before shipping your products out.
  13. Most scammers who claim to be a business owner will try to trick you into buying their products through wire or other non-secure money transfer, so they can snatch your chunk of money.
  14. Know where and who you are dealing with.
  15. Know your facts.
  16. Look at statistics.
  17. If something sounds too good to be true, don’t fall for it.
  18. Use safe money transactions such as Paypal.
  19. Frequently check your credit reports.
  20. Trust your instincts.
There are many types of theft on the Internet. From Identity theft to credit cards, you can protect your self now if you follow these tips. Don’t be one of those victims of theft.
