At first we were fine. With our dual incomes we had no trouble paying for our mortgage and could even handle it after it would balloon. Then at Christmas my husband decided to leave me, which left me with less than half our income, our child, and also his child from a previous marriage. (Poor kid, his mom abandoned him years ago and now his father has too.) Unfortunately, his leaving means I can barely pay the mortgage and it’s about to balloon. Looser man quits his job so he won’t have to pay, so no help there at all. Then I loose my auto industry job. So that’s where I am now, a suddenly unemployed single mom of two hoping they won’t take our home away because without a job I can’t even rent an apartment. I’m planning to plant a garden this summer for food, but if they take our house they’ll get that too. Our government needs to stop fixing the mortgages and do something about the jobs. If we have jobs then we can afford a mortgage. Without jobs it won’t matter how good they make a mortgage. Why can’t they see that?
