You probably wonder what does foot prints have to do with getting indexed from major search engines like Google and Yahoo, however, they share some of the same qualities that are alike.
Today I will talk to you about how to get indexed more frequently. People seem to ask this question a lot, so I might as well make a post about it. Okay, lets start.
How The Search Engine Spiders Work
To get your site indexed, search engines uses spiders or also known as bots to crawl your site and retrieve information about your site to put in their search engines. So, how do you get “crawled” more frequently?
How To Get Crawled More Frequently
- Google Sitemaps – I can’t stress enough about people adding their site’s in Google’s free Webmaster service or include their site in any search engine sitemaps in general. This service almost guarantees that your site is going to get crawled. Making a site map in Google’s Webmaster service or any other search engine sitemap is like saying, hey I’m next in line.
- Leave Trails - Leaving trails on sites that get indexed frequently will guide possibly spiders to trail off to your site. The more exposure you give your site around the world wideweb, the more you will be likely to be indexed by spiders. Great sites to lead spiders to index your sites are major social networking sites like Digg, Propeller, and many more. These are just the two that I believe gets indexed really fast, daily and I just had to get them out there for you guys to see.
- Comments – In addition to leaving trails, leaving comments, linking back to your site will lead possibly spiders to go straight to your site. Basically anything that involves a link back to your site will lead spiders to your site, however, please don’t spam. They will most likely be deleted later and have no use once the spam comments are deleted, so keep general, quality comments please.
- Manually Submitting – Manually submitting your sites to search engines doesn’t really guarantee that your site will be indexed, however, It is a good maneuver because it can possibly hint spiders to index your site. A great tool that I found to be the ultimate free AUTOMATIC search engine submitter, (Don’t you like that word automatic and free together?) can be found here. Please note that spamming to be indexed and added in the search engine will only give you negative consequences, so please try your best not to spam.
- Pinging – If you joined various feed groups and networks like Technorati, I strongly suggest to ping your sites, therefore you can guarantee that your networks will have the up to date material from your sites. When some search engine spiders possibly indexes through one of your network sites, the spider might run into one of your link backs and possibly lead them to indexing through your pages. You want the pages that the spiders index to be up to date as possible, so pinging your networks is a great way to get indexed.
Please note that if the link to download the automatic software no longer works, please don’t hesitate to leave me a comment below. Thank you.
