Is Going Overboard With Ads Necessary?

Monetizing comes in many shapes and sizes, whether it be from affiliate networks or just pay per click programs, it all helps to pay the bills right? But is it really necessary to overdo it and try to place as many ads as you can on your web page?

The Purpose of Having Ads

The purpose of having ads is to earn money from leads, clicks, and sales, but is it really necessary to overdo it? Many people believe that the more ads they place on their website, the more revenue they will earn, but in most cases, it just makes their websites look more cluttered than ever! The purpose of having ads is to have alternative links to other sites that might interest of the readers and gain revenue from it, however, this process shouldn’t disturb the user’s reading experience what so ever. Going overboard with ads might do more harm than good in retrospect of treating your readers as gold.

The Myth About Placing More Ads

Advertisements

Although placing more ads can grant some more exposure to your ads and networks, it can also play a major role of disturbing your users’ experience. Most often, some webmasters believe that the more ads they place, the more money they will generate, but in reality, it doesn’t really make a difference. If it is necessary to place three ad blocks, fine, but if it makes your website look untidy, you might consider not adding three blocks of ads because the number of ads you place, won’t change the amount of money you will earn from each click, lead, or sale. User experience is more of an importance than any block of ad doing more harm than good and alarming your readers. No one likes ads shoved in their faces, and you should respect that as well. If they are interested, let them be interested, but if they aren’t, so be it.
