4 Actions You Can Take to Get Into DMOZ

DMOZ, one of the worlds most profound and respected, human edited directory in the world, used by many trusted sources, such as Google and more, is probably the hardest directory to ever get accepted into. However, don’t give in, there is hope. Follow one of these 4 options, and you’ll likely be accepted in their directory, whether or not it will take 2 months or even 2 years to get accepted.
Getting accepted earlier than 2 months from your submission is considered lucky and exceptional.
The 4 Options
- Follow their guidelines.
- Become an editor for DMOZ.
- Submit your URL and forget.
- Don’t find DMOZ, let DMOZ find you.
Follow their guidelines
Although I, shouldn’t speak for DMOZ because I, my self isn’t even accepted from DMOZ… yet, a reason why your site might not be accepted in DMOZ could be that it violates one of their guidelines. Assuring that you approve of all their guidelines is important if you want an instant approval on their directory once viewed by an editor.
Become an editor for DMOZ
Nothing is easier to get submitted than if you are the one doing the editing and part of the team rather than waiting for an editor to view your listing. DMOZ has thousands or maybe tens of thousands of categories that needs moderation from editorial volunteers. If you are applicable of understanding and following their editorial guidelines, you can be part of the DMOZ team and become part of the world’s most profound free directory up to date.
Submit your URL and forget
It is as simple as that, submit your URL and forget about it or your submission to DMOZ. You probably hear this often, probably due to it taking a long period of time, generally ranging from 2 months to even 2 years to getting accepted. Although it is “good” to be listed in such a trusted directory, it isn’t the end of the world. The time for worrying about your submission to DMOZ, is better used on improving your website.
Don’t find DMOZ, let DMOZ find you
You’ve probably never heard of this ever happening, probably because it only happens during rare occasions, but if your website becomes reputable and well known, DMOZ will probably come to you before you come to it. DMOZ is a directory looking for quality, authoritative sites who are leaders of their niche, and if your one of them sites that becomes reputable for that niche, they will be doing the seeking, instead of the other way around.
