Bing and Search Engine Reports of 2009

Search engine statistics are good to look at in terms of looking for which search engine has more priority first over another because we all know that they each follow a different set of rules in terms of ranking which site is higher for a certain keyword. It is pretty obvious that you would want to go for the search engine that has the most volume of course, because otherwise, where are you going to get more traffic?

What This Explains

What these statistics tell us is that Google is far beyond being touched by either of the 3 competitors. I wouldn’t even really call them competitors knowing that Google has about 4 times more volume from their most closest competitor, Yahoo. What this also tells us, is that Bing, another launched search engine from Microsoft in early June, still has a long way to go to supposedly “defeat” Google, the king of all search engines as rumors has said.

That is why the bottom line why most webmasters and SEOs refer to search engines, they mainly only refer to Google because of their huge volume compared to other search engines like Yahoo, Bing, and Ask.

But who knows, some times the tides turn, and it can turn anytime as long as Bing or any other search engine have the energy and potential to continuing to improve their search engine. Like I said, the tides can turn at anytime, like when Google first launched, it slowly grew, and then tides began turning against Yahoo, and here we are today.

Bing

Everyone likes to root for the underdog search engine, and I do too, but what other search engines must do, including Bing to make the tides turn is to help impair and to continue to keep improving their search results algorithm like Google does almost every single day. It is no easy job, but once you begin convincing people that it pulls better results, that is when people will decide to make the switch.

What Bing Needs to Improve On

We all agree that Bing does have a pretty cool interface, and I must admit, their search speed functionality is pretty speedy as well, however, it was designed to be a search engine, not just any regular old website. Here are some things I think Bing needs to improve more on for the time being.

  1. Google indexes pages faster than ever. Meaning that they have a LOT of content being pulled into their index every single day. Bing should quickly build up content or should I say build up more search results, so users can quickly see that their search engine have a variety of results to look though.
  2. Improve on search relevancy. This also goes along with indexing I believe. The lack of indexing means, less content, meaning less possible relevant results.

Those are the two things personally, I believe Bing needs to step up on to keep their priorities straight of being the “decision maker” search engine. Without content, they can’t really pull great possible results on the spot right? For the meanwhile, lets play a game. What does Bing stand for?

Here are some clever ones already published in the search engines.

Bing is not Google

and

But it’s not Google

Now you try.
