You Want More Social Network Publicity? Do Something Interesting

No one likes to give someone publicity just because a webmaster is desperate. To win people’s attention, you must do something in return that is somewhat equivalent to being of their interest that makes them want to share the information to their friends. Publicity and social networks are nice places to spread the word of the news, however, if you don’t got an eye catching story to talk about, and sometimes a small community to backup your initial votes, then no one would care a rat’s ass about your story.

More or less, let’s be for real. Would you click on a story that has already been published about ten thousand times, or would you click the rather interesting story that says “Breaking News” all over it? To be honest, people like recent news, but if your an authority blogger who has about 10,000 subscribers to back you up, you’ve got no problem hitting first page with reiterating tips and tutorials. But for the most part, most blog owners don’t have that kind of authority and power, so it is very important to do something interesting to build up a presence over the web that people might want to listen to. Every blog has to start somewhere. Nothing gains publicity and 100,000 subscribers over night, it takes years or possibly even decades to building up such a large user base. That is why it is definite to make your first impression stories in large social networking sites, such as, Digg, and Stumble Upon, both appealing and compelling to readers, and then they might consider subscribing.

Think of a Great Byline

Although I am no social networking expert, one strong statement stands clear. To gain a larger user base, one has to start somewhere, and the sooner you start to emphasize on targeting interesting stories with a great byline, the more evident you will be in the recent news section. A great write up I made in the past called How to Use Any Social Networking Site For Viral Marketing, talks about how to cleverly build up a larger user base in effort to help build the intial votes of a story, that I believe, will be a pretty helpful read for your social networking success.

Social networks is no doubt one of the mainstream traffic generators, and will never be replaced. Not only are they a great source to getting more interested readers from a wide range of audiences, it also helps to liven up the place. Be creative and interesting, then people would act accordingly. Subscribing should always be optional and not forcefully.

  • I hope it’s that easy. I find it hard to think of something interesting to put in my social network. But I will. :-)
