SEO Techniques That Worked for Me
2 views | September 5th, 2009In edition to our most recent post on Google SEO, the 14 Effective Search Engine Optimization Tips, we’d like to share our most profound SEO techniques and tips, that has worked for us. Note that these minor tweaks and techniques are just some techniques we incorporate that we believe worked for us. You can argue that some are just “myths,” but in the reality, it is the webmasters end to decide whether or not the technique seem appropriate or not. This is the sole reason why we named the title “SEO Techniques That Work for Me,” not “100% True Authentic SEO Techniques.”

SEO Technique #1: Ranking keywords near the header
When I say ranking keywords near the header, I mean have the keywords you want to rank for near to or close as possible to the top of the page when you view the source of your page. Generally the concept of this technique is to basically tell Google and other search engines that these are some of the important keywords I want to rank for, and the idea is, the closer those keywords are near the top, the less chance they will miss them.
Picture banners that have the theme of the keyword you want to rank for, works well too. Just add the alt tag of the picture.
SEO Technique #2: Rank for long tail keywords and build from there
The idea is with this technique, is that if you rank for a keyword, lets say, “Ways to Make Money Online,” It is better to rank for “Make Money Online” than lets say a completely differnet keyword like “Work at Home.” Most webmasters have found that this technique has worked for them.
SEO Technique #3: Hit keywords with similar meanings
Matt Cutts has even admitted it himself that sometimes if you rank for a keyword, lets say “Make Money Online,” you’ll rank higher for “Earn Money Online” as well because the two keywords mean about the same thing, that if you target one of them, you might rank higher for both. Finding these type of keywords are undoubtedly great to greater your rankings for multiple keywords at once to double your traffic streams.
SEO Technique #4: Rank inner pages
There is nothing baffling about this technique. Nowadays, it is common to see webmasters trying to rank individual pages for money keywords they want. The idea isn’t crazy, it is rather smart. Not only is the content going to be a directed valuable source for Google once it starts to rank, since the content is directly about the keyword, it will already be equiped with on-page optimization. All it needs is a little bit of linking, and it should lift off from there. The idea of the homepage having to rank for ALL the keywords is getting really out of date. Nowadays, you see more content URLs more than homepage URLs for some money long tail keywords.
SEO Technique #5: Link to related sites that are reputable
The idea of linking and passing link love to external sites cannot be all that bad, or else webmasters would have some settlement about linking out. In most cases when webmasters think of linking out without the rel=”nofollow” tag, is that their site will be degraded for linking out, but the truth is, that if your linking to a bad source, a site with a bad reputation in Google’s eyes, that may be the case, but if your linking to a reputable source, lets say, New York Times, that may be a different case scenario. Two evidently different stances in Google’s eyes that should be understanded by every webmaster.
SEO Technique #6: Display your best relevant content
Last but not least, show your best relevant content related to the keyword you want to rank for, in your sidebar, in your footer, where ever, to tell Google that these pages are specifically important. This helps to ensure that the pages get better rankings as well as show that they are more of a priority to content that don’t have a link from the homepage. Not only is this a good practice to bring up on-page optimization for your homepage, it gives users the content they are looking for as well as help your homepage rank higher for the money keywords you want and as a bonus, help the content pages rank higher too.
