How to Successfully Market Your Product on the Internet
I’d bet every single Internet Marketer has at least once thought about creating their very own product and marketing it. Why settle with just 75% when you can take 100% of the profit. You don’t need to be a well known authority figure on the web to make your very own product and sell it. Although it may help, it isn’t necessarily required. As long as you’re a knowledgeable person that has the slightest clue of putting words together on writing something informative, you have the capability like any other marketer, to make your very own product and sell it. Don’t let competition discourage you from creating your own product. While it may seem everything has been written about, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it is off limits, writing your product in your very own prospective alone can already be a reason why people would buy your product. If it is a service you are offering or a real life product, think of a competitive edge for your business. You won’t know if marketing your own product is profitable or not until you try.
Product Presentation
In any given situation, presentation is the most important thing on deciding the success of a product. The way you present your product will define how successful your product will sell. Presentation is like a weapon, it can either build way to a bright future for your product or in the wrong hands, dig a deeper hole for you and your product. Think of a competitive edge that you have obtained and stick with it. For example, Google. Their competitive edge over such search engines like Yahoo and Microsoft’s Bing, is simplicity. Probably why it is so infamous today, is because of it’s simple competitive edge of it being just a search engine for users and nothing more. Anything else would just take away from their competitive edge that first led them to being the superior search engine. Moral is, find your competitive edge and stick with it thoroughly.
Building Buzz
Without any buzz circulating around your product, you won’t be making any sales. Of course creating buzz is no easy job, it can indeed lead to great results if done right. On the web, there are probably hundreds of opportunities to create buzz for your product. In the era where web 2.0’s dominate the scene of the Internet, creating buzz around your product couldn’t be more easier and more affordable. With free services like YouTube and social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace, there are practically endless amounts of opportunities you can join for free to create buzz for your product. If you can make your product sound catchy and attract buzz that is viral, that is the best free type of traffic you can obtain on the web. Nothing beats viral traffic as once the news is out, it is literally out there on a rampage to be known. Here are just a few ways to create online buzz, just to get you thinking (I recommend sticking to one or two methods at a time and then slowly build your way up the list).
- Start groups on popular group sites like Facebook, Yahoo Groups, or on Google’s Orkut
- Submit to article directories or the top free press release sites (list of press release sites).
- Socialize on social networking sites to attract even more buzz for your product.
- Consider PPC advertising or in blog advertising.
- Add your product to popular affiliate networks like Clickbank and CJ and make money off affiliates.
- Make use of online communities that are generally called Forums.
- Prepare and optimize your website for search engine publicity (Read more about Google SEO).
- Submit videos on popular video sharing networks like YouTube and Viddler. Cool looking videos attract more buzz.
- Create partnerships or an incentives program where it is a win/win situation (having a landing page that is appealing is a must).
These are just a few ideas to just take note of. There are plenty more opportunities to gain web publicity, you just got to be creative. Once you build up enough initial hype, afterwards when the buzz dies down a bit, your product should be more comfortable as being known as a brand everybody knows about. When you hit a point where your product begins to gain consistent web traffic without any promotion what so ever, that is when you know you did something right in your attempt of gaining web exposure for your product. Once you have met this stage, with the combined force of affiliates promoting your product for you, plus the previous social networking publicity, & maybe some search engine publicity, all you do now is just watch as the money comes flowing in but this time, _ _% more.
