Briefly, let me just run through the six steps that you need to to do to make money from internet marketing.
- Find a hungry crowd of people
- Build a simple web site
- Capture names and email addresses of prospects on that web site
- Build the relationship with your subscribers
- Promote products to solve problems in the niche
- Drive traffic
Step 1 is all about research. Steps 2 to 5 is all about setting up what I call a “system” – once you do the work to get the system in place then you’re in a wonderful position to grow from there. Step 6 is all about getting traffic to your web site.
Once you’ve achieved steps 1 to 5 then all you need to do to scale your income up to heights previously unimaginable is to drive more traffic to your web site (which in turn generates more leads, creates more sales and so forth).

1- Find a Hungry Crowd of People
Your first tasks is to find a group of people who have a problem but don’t have a way of solving that problem. Ideally you want to find a market who have an emotional attachment to the problem that they want solving.
Let me give you an example of a good and a bad niche and explain why they are good and bad:-
Bad niche – Food recipes. There are hundreds of thousands of people searching online for food recipes. Their problem is that they don’t know how to cook a meal and want to be given instructions. This is a horrible niche to work in because they are purely information seekers and it’s not a hungry, desperate market. People who are looking for recipes won’t be thinking about solving problem many times a day, every day. There is little mind share, little urgency and little chance they’ll buy from you.
Good niche – Acne. People who have acne think about it all the time. They have an emotional attachment to the problem – it affects their everyday lives. It may even stop them from doing things that they’d otherwise want to do. Acne sufferers really have a torrid time and want to clear their spots as quickly as possible. This is an example of a hungry crowd of people who will buy from you if you can solve their problem.
2 – Build a Web Site
Your web site doesn’t need to be more than a simple one page web site that captures the names and email addresses of people who visit. This type of web site is called a squeeze page and can take less than an hour to set up.
You need to make sure that your squeeze page is short, offers a free gift to encourage people to enter their details and contains a form that is above the fold. This means that people don’t have to scroll down to see where they enter their name and email address.
3 – Build Your List
This is closely related to step 2 above, but you really want to make sure that you are capturing the names and email addresses of as many people as possible who visit your squeeze page or your web site. This is extremely important…
Why is it so important? It all comes down to having a high value per visitor. Building a list increases your value per visitor many times over and when it comes to finding traffic having a high value per visitor increases your ability to run paid traffic generation campaigns and remain profitable.
4 – Build the Relationship with Your Subscribers
You may or may not realise this but we actually buy from people that we trust. We also take recommendations from people we like or respect. For instance, if you had two recommendations – one from a guy in the street and one from a close friend, which would you choose?
Of course we’d take the recommendation from a friend. Once people get onto your mailing list you need to send them lots of highly valuable and useful information that they are really thankful for. This is called “pushing the free line”.
Research shows that you can improve your conversion rate many times over if you simply give first – always provide value first and the wealth will flow to you.
5 – Promote Genuinely Useful Products
You are know at the perfect stage where you can promote products that will help you prospects overcome the problems that they are having.
Remember, we don’t just promote any old rubbish – we need to make sure that we promote genuinely useful products so that we don’t alienate our subscribers. We want to keep that relationship with them, nurture them and hopefully generate a crowd of repeat buyers.
6 – Drive Traffic
Once you get to this point it is simply a matter of generating traffic to your site. You can do this through many different ways – article marketing, joint ventures, video marketing, PPC, banner advertising, forum marketing…the list goes on.
Remember, now the system is in place and set up, it is simply a case of driving targeted prospects to your squeeze page to get them into your sales funnel.
