If you didn’t already know, Google Adsense is the world’s largest and the most lucrative PPC (i.e pay per click) solution out there for publishers in the entire web. By now, I’d bet every single person have heard of the program called Google Adsense or have at least seen a Google ad from their network.
Being an existing publisher, you are probably asking yourself, have I added Adsense to my website? Done. Have I considered blending the ads so it matches the theme? Done. Have I considered targeting higher paying keywords? Done. Have I considered other forms of Adsense blocks such as, ad links, mobile ads, feed ads, and etc? Done.
And you would ask me: Still, how can I increase my Google Adsense revenue by 3 folds even though I am in the world’s most prominent PPC network?
Today, I will answer those questions with tips as well as explicitly talk about each method I mention here on how to increase Adsense CTR (i.e click through ratio). If you happen to not know what CTR is, it is basically the measurement in which how many impressions it takes on average for every click. An example would be: If I had 100 web impressions and 1 click, the CTR would be 1%. Increasing a person’s CTR generally means more money.

Adsense Trick 1: Ad Links in Post
As you are reading from our website, you should notice that MoolaDays it self have incorporated this technique. Basically what we have done is incorporate Adsense ad links within our post body to increase our overall CTR, and to do it is rather easy.
Why this method is an effective way to increase CTR is because it is placed in an area where it will be the center of readers’ attention and due to this sole reason, it has proven it self countless times that it does indeed help increase CTR. Although I cannot say how much it increased my CTR, what I can say however is that it is a trick worth incorporating if you get the chance to.
All it takes is a little bit of CSS and ad blending from your Google Adsense panel.
This is exactly what I did to get this technique up and running. I incorporated the WordPress plugin Quick Adsense and added my Google Adsense ad links code in the area where it says “After Paragraph _” and centralized the ad block so it is positioned in the middle of my blog posts. Also, I set my margin to 5px and for the ad to appear for every 4th paragraph for those who are wondering. Then after that is set, all I needed to do was add a little bit of CSS to style the ad links.
This is the CSS code that I used to add the extra black lines above and under my Adsense ad links:
.adsense-mid{padding-bottom:0em;margin:0em auto 2em auto;text-align:center;border-top:1px solid #000000;border-bottom:1px solid #000000;}
After you have added the CSS code to your Stylesheet, now just add <div class=”adsense-mid”> in front of your adsense code and </div> after your adsense code. Hit save and possible have to clear your cache as well as your browser’s cookies for it to appear, then you are done! Now you have your customized ad links up and running on every single blog post you have published, working their best to entice more clicks for you.
Adsense Trick 2: Image + Leaderboard
The second Adsense trick that I will be talking about will be pretty self explanatory in the pictures that will demonstrate how this technique increases CTR.
This is a demonstration shared by Critters from Digital Point and it show cases the site DrawaPig.
The owner stated that from this image + leaderboard ad combination, he has seen an 400% increase in his overall website’s CTR in the past 2 days from making this change and reported that his CTR increased at least 25% and continued to stay like that over the 2 months that he has incorporated this technique. Although I cannot say from personal experience, it is a trick worth incorporating when given a chance to because it abuses the fact that most images on the web comes with descriptions underneath it. I can see this technique working with ad links as well depending on an image’s width.
What I was about to note was that the owner should have moved the images higher up where it is more noticeable since his ad placements were performing phenomenally, but viewing his site now, it seems that he has already made that change and is possibly enjoying an even higher CTR.
Adsense Trick 3: Ad Links in the Menu Bar
Although I won’t go deep into detail about this technique, it is pretty self explanatory just like the Image + Leaderboard Adsense trick.
Ad links in the menu bar abuses the user behavior to click from links that is showcased in the menu bar, and because of this notion, it is an area reckoning with to increasing CTR. Google Adsense Ad links can accomplish this task by masking themselves as the regular menu links that so many websites have. As long as the majority of sites follow this behavior, I don’t see this technique dying out anytime soon because studying human behavior and web placement are key to a higher CTR.
