My Thoughts on ‘The Social Network’

There have been buzz going around the so called “Facebook movie”, ‘The Social Network’ and most recently, I decided to watch it. Although many may have the impression that the film is all about Facebook, that it is not entirely true. All I can say after watching the movie is that there is a lot to learn from this film and what it has to offer. If you are into business innovation, or just wanting to watch something inspiring, this is a movie worth watching.

A Quick Summary

The Social Network gives viewers a glimpse of a teenager’s (Mark Zuckerberg) dream of having a simple idea like creating the ultimate online social networking site (Facebook), and turning it into something more – into a multimillion dollar phenomenon. However, in the process tangles himself into some serious legal issues.

Ultimately, what made this a great film was that it demonstrated some great business ethics and struggles that could be easily connected to struggles businesses face today. Also, the fact that Facebook is still today’s biggest online phenomenon is another reason why this film was both inspirational and powerful.

It is no surprise that this movie was such a hit. It received an unheard of solid A from critics, and an A- from users at Yahoo Movies. Like what many critics said, the actors chosen to star in the movie had razor shape acting and the entire film was simply well made. Also, another thing to mention is that if you are into online marketing or business in general, this is a movie you can really relate to because you are able to see the transformation of a simple idea turn into a multimillion dollar company, take place.

Although I don’t want to spoil the movie for those who are planning on watching it, one thing is for sure. After watching the movie, it really gives you food for thought about what could be the next multimillion dollar idea. Because the moment I walked out that movie theater, it sure got me thinking.

So this brings me to a simple question:

What do you think could be the next multimillion dollar idea?
