Why Marketing Techniques Don’t Sound as Ridiculous
August 15th, 2009The more you progress and gain more knowledge as to how marketing and business works, you soon to realize more and more how clever marketers are to manipulate people to getting to know their brand. From ridiculously annoying methods like saying their brand name repeatedly over and over again like on a loop on the radio to sponsoring high school athletes to wear a shirt that says Pepsi or Coke o Cola, top companies would literally do anything that widely involves accumulating more recognition for their brand and the Internet is no exception.
Budget vs. Advertising
On the Internet instead of sponsoring high school athletes, some may consider advertising on well known blogs to sort of “spread the word.” To become an authority in the Internet is no easy job. It takes strong ethics for a new company to rise on top of the food chain. On the Internet, the principles are no different in terms of trying to build up brand and authority for your name. There are literally thousands, even millions of advertising campaigns launched everyday directed to get more exposure for their brand that they are endorsing. Some campaigns can really eat up your resources, while some may not. In the end of the day what matters is how effective your campaigns went considering your budget. A number of campaigns can be as simple as making a funny video and submitting it to top sharing video networks like YouTube to spark viral marketing; a more cost efficient way to distribute your brand, while others can be as tedious as sending hundreds of press releases – a not so cost efficient method of advertising. (list of free press releases) It doesn’t stop there.
There are literally thousands of advertising networks as well, such as Google Adwords to help bring exposure to your storefront. In the marketing industry, about everything that resides in a large audience is considered an authority figure for marketing. That is why many top advertising campaigns depend on free social networking sites such as Digg, Stumble Upon, and even video sharing networks like Youtube, to help distribute their brand name by the spread of word. Viral marketing is the most efficient way to building up brand and credibility quickly, (depending about what the story is about) and literally gives the most bang for the buck. So perhaps investing in different methods of advertising besides residing only on Google Adwords, can potentially be your smartest decision ever in terms of spending. Other methods than just direct paid traffic can be just as good.
Like all things in life, you should experiment with a variety solutions rather than just one. Who knows? Maybe hiring a couple of professional video makers may be your smartest investment yet. You hear about odd commercials making headlines for their company’s brand, why can’t you? Be creative.
